So where is it?

Before you can  use Outlook Express to check your E-mail,  you have to find it.

Start Outlook Express.  You may need to look around for it.  If there is an Outlook Express Icon on your desktop, double-click its icon on your desktop.

Different computers are set up differently.  If you cannot find Outlook Express on your desktop, you may need to look around for it. 

Click the Start button.

Click Programs.

Click Outlook Express.  If you don't see Outlook Express, keep looking for it in the Programs menu.  Sometimes it is in a folder named "Internet Explorer."

If you cannot find Outlook Express, it may not be installed on your computer.  Try another mail program such as Eudora or Netscape Messenger.  If you have problems, call Syclone Designs at (706) 265-4394 

 

I found it, now what?

Now you'll need to tell Outlook Express where your new E-mail account is.

Now you should have Outlook Express up and running.  From the Tools menu, choose Accounts

Click the Add button...

The Add button is on the top left corner of the window.

 

 .. and choose Mail

Pressing "Add" will bring up another small menu.  Choose "Mail"

Go ahead and open Outlook Express.

Your Name and E-mail Address

Now you'll need to tell Outlook Express where your new E-mail account is.

The Internet Connection Wizard will now get you ready to receive mail.  Type in your display name and click Next.

 

Next click "I already have an e-mail address..."

Then, Type your new e-mail address in the blank.  Syclone hosting customers' addresses follow the following formula:

yourusername@yourdomain.com

Click Next.

E-mail Server Names and Mail Logon

Mail Servers are our computers that send and receive your mail.

Enter the following information into the blanks on the screen.

Incoming mail server is a POP3 server

Incoming mail server is pop.syclone.net

Outgoing mail server is smtp.syclone.net

 

Enter your Syclone dialup username as Account Name.  Enter your dialup password as Password.

 

 

Tell the computer to remember your password if you want it to.

Leave the "Log on using SPA" checkbox empty.

Click Next.  On Outlook Express 5, you're done. Click "Next" and then click "Finish."  You're done.  Click "Close."  You will be able to check your e-mail by hitting "Send/Receive."
